Sneaky the scrub turkeyFor a fabulous roast turkey recipe, try friend and photographer, Mike Odom’s specialty. Mike is from Florida in the US where they know all about cooking turkeys - Thanksgiving Day is the US version of our Invasion Day, Australia Day.

Our homegrown turkey, the scrub turkey, is barely edible - unbearably tough and pungent, even after long hours of stewing and marination. We recommend sticking to the traditional farm turkey, which, properly dressed and cooked, is unbeatable for festivities.

Here’s Sneaky, who lives on our property and who has survived despite a broken foot, thriving from our scraps.

"Non-violence is the law of our species, as violence is the law of the brute. The spirit lies dormant in the brute and he knows no law but that of physical might. The dignity of man requires obedience to a higher law - to the strength of the spirit."
