The font size checker suite is now complete, with a percentage vs. points font size checker added in addition to the percentage vs. pixels font size checker and pixels vs. points font size checker.

These tools are useful for calculating comparative font sizes when designing web pages.

Despite a concerted search, I have not found a better font view/installer than Sue Fisher’s Font Thing … it seems to work on XP just fine though it hasn’t been upgraded since 2000. The beauty of it is that whole folders of uninstalled fonts can be selected and drag/dropped into collections.

The program allows all fonts on one’s system to be categorised into collections, installed and uninstalled, and has boxes for sample font tests and font information. I’ve used it for years.

Collecting fonts is one of my passions. I was most pleased to stumble across Fontleech, a blog devoted to fonts. The site continuously alerts its readers to and catalogues a range of free font sources I haven’t discovered before as well as some beloved old ones, including the archives of the prolific and luminal font designer Manfred Klein.

This fellow has to be the most prolific font creator on the net at the moment. His 2004 output is phenomenal – and they’re free!
