Sneaky the scrub turkeyFor a fabulous roast turkey recipe, try friend and photographer, Mike Odom’s specialty. Mike is from Florida in the US where they know all about cooking turkeys - Thanksgiving Day is the US version of our Invasion Day, Australia Day.

Our homegrown turkey, the scrub turkey, is barely edible - unbearably tough and pungent, even after long hours of stewing and marination. We recommend sticking to the traditional farm turkey, which, properly dressed and cooked, is unbeatable for festivities.

Here’s Sneaky, who lives on our property and who has survived despite a broken foot, thriving from our scraps.

"Squealer said, 'Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure. On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility. No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?"

- George Orwell
