These include two photos of Alistair, the peacock which has adopted us, a lovely white bauhinia, a butterfly obscured in a shrub, and a delicious elegant hippiastrum.

For a fabulous roast turkey recipe, try friend and photographer, Mike Odom’s specialty. Mike is from Florida in the US where they know all about cooking turkeys – Thanksgiving Day is the US version of our Invasion Day, Australia Day.
Our homegrown turkey, the scrub turkey, is barely edible – unbearably tough and pungent, even after long hours of stewing and marination. We recommend sticking to the traditional farm turkey, which, properly dressed and cooked, is unbeatable for festivities.
Here’s Sneaky, who lives on our property and who has survived despite a broken foot, thriving from our scraps.

"Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception."
- Mark Twain
